The Possibilities of Prayer
What happens when we pray?
We move from the impossibilities of our humanity into the infinite possibilities of His divinity: "with man this is impossible, but with God, all things are possible" (Matthew 19:26).
Prayer unlocks the impossible.
"Here is one of the greatest secrets of prevailing prayer. To study the Words to find out what God's will is as revealed there in the promises and spread them out before God in prayer with the absolutely unwavering expectation that He will do what He promised in His Word" (Torrey).
Prayer changes lives; it also changes days. How many times have you sat down to pray in a state of depression over your current circumstances. Nothing seems right. Everything and everyone is pressing on your very last nerve. And then, in reading a few simple lines of Scripture, turning our hearts and minds heavenward, the impossible occurs: the anxieties of the day are lifted and our perspective has been completely altered. Nothing about our circumstances has changed. The same annoyances are right there waiting for us. But our hearts have been transformed. Our minds have been renewed. Our spirits have been lifted. This is the gift of prayer.
